Preperation for the brief

The brief entails that I "create a lead character with heart and optimism, for a narrative driven comedy cartoon." This lead character must appeal to 4-14 year olds, and must be "a source of learning for them about the real world." These are values typical of any Disney programs, and coming from an animation background, and of course having watched many Disney films myself, these are goals of which I have the means to adhere to.

Without a context, it may be difficult to portray these qualities in a single character, so I may have to create one. Perhaps a small scene or surrounding which the character can perform his actions. The brief says not to over think visual attributes, but at least some though will have to go into it in order to single out context and make the characters aims and motivations clear. This, in combination of the scene, can do that.
